1959 Ford F-100 Styleside, 8 foot bed. I purchased this truck last summer to use and restore and now my duties as a caregiver leaves no time to finish.
From the previous owner: Original red & white paint with authentic patina. Never wrecked, restored or re-finished. “Custom Cab” with wrap-around, big back window. Deluxe trim in great shape: chrome horn ring, grill, emblems, window moldings, etc. Manual 3 on the tree transmission with “Mileage Maker” 230 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder engine with 139 horsepower. No radio or antennae. 9 inch rear axle, wing-vent windows, heater and fan blower work, new fitted upholstery for seat and door panels, rubber floor covering in the cab. Brand new carburetor with automatic choke, original oil bath air cleaner, no valve-ticks, knocks or smoke, doesn’t burn or leak oil. New brake master cylinder and slave cylinders at all 4 corners, new brake shoes, hoses and lines, brake fluid flushed and filled. New one wire alternator(replacing generator), new fuel pump, new Champion 3 core aluminum radiator, new fan belt and hoses, New tie rod ends and alignment. Clutch is good with no slippage. No play in wheel bearings, knuckles or king pins. New muffler. All lights work. Gas tank steam cleaned and pressure tested(new fuel sending unit). Oil pressure, temperature gauge, speedometer and battery light working. Dents and dings throughout body as truck was used as a pickup for 62 years.
What I have done:Rear leaf springs( 7(4/3) leaves), bolt-spring eye/shackles, u-bolts. KYB GR2 rear shocks. Rear end completely rebuilt(pilot and pinion bearings, seals, gaskets, slingers, etc.) 4 Cooper Discovery A/T tires. Oil filter and oil change.
Issues: Bed is rusted, needs replacement. Frame is solid, may need cab mounts. Rust holes in lower tailgate, bed-corners, cab corners, door bottoms, inner fenders, and pin holes in box floor. Previous owner welded in new patch panels for driver’s running board. No body filler. Emergency brake, windshield wipers and horn not working.
Parts I have: Windshield, steering stabilizer, 2 Monroe gas front shocks, wiper blades, wiper motor, under bed spare tire carrier, Body and Interior Assembly manual. Operator’s manual, Shop manual.
This truck starts and runs well. Looks great. Good candidate for total restoration or to use as is.
